Why do you get this message sometimes?
When we click on a link that we've used before, we all dread seeing the '404, page not found' message. "What happened to that page?" you wonder. This can be very frustrating, as constant updates need to be made.
The '404' happens for a few reasons-
*Websites become redundant, or are taken down for copyright issues
*Some sell their Domain & suddenly you have 'mobile phones' instead of Irish links
* If the webpages are reorganised or shuffled within the site, the URL (Universal Resource Locator) or Web
address will change
*Some sites are absorbed into others such as, Ancestry.com (so you now have to pay!)
*Others decide that they want to update their website with a 'new look', so all of their pages will then have
different links than the 'Old look' site
*Some change the Heading of the page- 'Burials in the Back of Burke', to 'Graves in remote areas' (for
example) so the search facility within their own website, can't find the 'Burials in the Back of Burke' page,
even if the same information is still within the site.
You may be lucky enough to have a defunct site saved on 'The Wayback Machine', where webpages can be saved. They have 498 billion at the present time, that doesn't mean that
most of them have been saved, as there are countless websites out in cyber space.
The links on this site have been collected over a period of time, some of them may be dead? I've tried to check most of them, but if you find a dead one, now you know why?

"Without a knowledge of our Family's roots,
we don't feel the true sense of belonging
& can sometimes have difficulty seeing
how our own lives, as one small piece of the puzzle,
is so important to the 'Big picture'
that eventually will unfold" C.K.
