Rickards died in 1911 while in England, at the age of 64 years.
Rickards' real name was-
Benjamin Leete. The Opera House was renamed the 'Tivoli' in February 1914

The Tivoli ran for many years after the death of Harry Rickards, eventually closing in April of 1966. Used as a cinema for a while, a fire damaged the building only 12 months after the last curtain call.

Now, the only reminder the Opera House & of all the heartache, fun, laughter & tragedy that remains today, is a drab Arcade, just like any other. An Era gone, which I never knew, but would love to have known, is brought to life again only, thanks to TROVE newspaper articles (NLA) & The State Library of Victoria.
